At present, the H.T.A. is the training and certification vehicle for its members.  Multi-level courses designed to accommodate all levels of expertise are available through the H.T.A.  In addition to the training and certification, the H.T.A. continually develops and maintains a database, applicable to all facets of heat treatment.  This database is made available to its members through an intranet website managed by the H.T.A.

In 1991 the Heat Treaters Association founders recognized the need for a lobby group to promote and set up standards for the Heat Treatment Industry.  This need resulted in the establishment of the H.T.A. composed of industry company representatives and heat treatment technicians.  Unfortunately, in the early years, communication problems associated with the industry kept the membership enrolment numbers small.  Heat Treatment professionals are a scattered group in a trade that often demands extremely long workdays and travel on short notice.  The working conditions of our industry professionals have made and continue to make their attendance of regularly scheduled H.T.A. meetings difficult.  We have made great progress in the last ten years but we need the technical input of a larger group of industry technicians and companies.

In 2001 the H.T.A. is confident that by using a combination of phone, mail, email, and website messaging we can build an effective communication network.  With this network in place a truly representative heat treatment industry voice will be possible.

Our Goals:

How will the accomplishment of these goals benefit Heat Treatment Companies?

Companies will have highly skilled properly trained employees with rated technical knowledge levels.  Their skilled workforce can be confidently deployed to execute the most challenging of heat treatment tasks.  Job bidding will be more accurate by reducing costly mistakes of incompetent workers and profits will increase.

How will the accomplishment of these goals benefit the Technician?

Highly skilled technically competent heat treatment technicians receive higher wages while securing higher profits for their employers.  A win-win situation for the companies and the technicians.

The H.T.A. is accepting membership applications from Heat Treatment Companies and individuals interested in the Heat Treatment Industry.

Corporate Membership Fee:    $250 per year
Individual Membership Fee:    $120 per year
Membership fees are tax deductible.

Members receive discounts on all H.T.A. sanctioned training programs, newsletters and free access to all current safety and technical information contributed by the membership.
